No prior experience necessary! Our most popular class, and one that the beginning filmmaker cannot do without. Over the course of the workshop, you will learn the necessary skills needed to get started producing the film you've always wanted to make. Now is the time, seize the day and join the movement of DIY (Do It Yourself) filmmaking. Includes an overview of the phases of production; pre-production, production, and post-production. Each one equaling as important as the next, you will learn the differences and elements involved. You will also learn how to operate portable video equipment including cameras, lights, and audio gear. You will start applying these skills right away! (If you are interested in learning more we encourage you to register for our Final Cut I class). With this class you will have the knowledge and confidence to jump in and start producing your own work. Class limit 12
Matthew lives with his wife Sydney, and his dog Karma, in the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. He has been following his love for visual storytelling for seven years, working in a wide range of video production arenas. Going from high school news broadcasting, to working on high production sets, to directing his own feature film, Matthew has been actively enjoying working with people that are as passionate about the craft as he is. The one thing Matthew has learned throughout the years is this: "it doesn't matter how skilled you are, how many years of experience you have, or how many movie sets you have worked on - the only thing that matters is that you enjoy what you are doing and can be personally invested in the project". Currently, Matthew is working at Pacific Science Center where he heads up the Live Science Presentations department and helps with Science Interpretation on the floor
