Whether you’re interested in social media, filmmaking, or just polishing up your personal videos this class will equip you with the skill set to obtain your goals.
Final Cut Pro 6 is fairly intuitive editing software that can be used to cut anything from consumer video to uncompressed High Definition. Through a set of simple editing exercises you will become comfortable with standard editing techniques. By the end of this class you will have a basic understanding of non-linear editing and be able to: Set up a basic computer editing station, capture video and audio onto your computer, efficiently organize your captured media, insert and arrange audio and video clips to create a show, add titles, create simple motion effects, and output your piece to tape or video file. The primary focus is gaining competency and comfort with basic nonlinear editing techniques and vocabulary as they apply to cutting in Final Cut Pro.
Included in this class is the use of 6 hours of lab time in the 911 Media classroom. Class taught in our computer lab where each student gets their own workstation. Class Limit: 8
Great beginner's class--one weekend and you've got the basics to get you on the ground running. Hand's on exercises coupled with additional lab time guarantee to get you started on your first real movie. -Tacey Miller (Xbox Videogame Program Manager, Microsoft Game Studios)
I began the class barely knowing how to turn on a Mac. By the end of the second class, I knew how to capture and log film, edit video, and create titles. In short, I could make my own movie now! I can't believe how simple the instructor made it ... and now I'm hooked. -Joanna Gregson, Ph.D. (Sociology Professor)
I walked into the Final Cut Pro class knowing almost nothing about editing. By the end of the workshop I knew enough to assemble a very good rough cut of a documentary I am working on. The instructor was great and all the basics were covered in both theory and practice. It was particularly helpful to have the hands on demos and lab time included with the class. -Erik Koto (Banker and Documentary Filmmaker)
