Special Screening! In recognition of Earth Day, we are pleased to present the NW premiere of the feature-length documentary The Sandman by award-winning San Franciscan filmmaker Chesley Chen, profiling the work and life of Bay Area artist, Jim Denevan. Jim performs drawings -- making temporary sculptures on the sandy beaches of Northern California. Using only a stick and a rake, Denevan's work is monumental in scale but as fleeting as any live performance. The screening starts at 7pm and is preceded by a short film by local Seattle animator, Jim Woodring, called Fossil Follies. Woodring's cartoons chart a course through some of the most surreal imagery ever seen in any artistic medium, drawing visions from the realms of the subconscious to create a graphic world of dreams.
