911 Annual Member Meeting
Friday, October 10th 7pm

911 has always been a consensus-based organization. As with many growing non-profits the process has been organic, with one-on-ones, member surveys and occasional retreats. Over the past six months 911's board has been working very hard to update our governmental methodology. We now have rock solid bylaws and a formalized voting process. All of which calls for a celebration! Please join us for our first annual member meeting and social at which we will discuss future directions for the org and vote on selected seats for our board of trustees. Refreshments provided! Come be a part of democracy in action! For more information go here

911 Young Producers Project Presents:
SOUTH KOREAN JETLAG
Friday, October 17th 8pm
$4 / $2 (911 Members)

Young people grow up in radically different environments around the World. But there's one thing they have in common. They've all got stories to tell. The International Film and Acting Camp (INFAC) searched worldwide for young media makers to participate in an intensive film seminar in An Seong, South Korea. 911 was honored to be selected. We sent Tenzin Tingkhye (from Reel Grrls), Evan Driscoll (intern extraordinaire) and 911 staff members Gretchen Ludwig and Annie Silverstein. Despite language barriers and heinous jetlag, "Team USA" and other international teams collaborated to create 25 shorts films - ranging from hilarious to eerie to experimental in just three days. Tonight, we will present a selection of these shorts along with a documentary about the whirlwind experience. As a special bonus, we'll also showcase clips from Korean produced independent films. Join us for a night of cultural diversity linked hand-in-hand with young creative minds doing what they love.

911 and Killing My Lobster present:
HI/LO FILM FESTIVAL
Friday, October 24th, 8pm
$6 / $4 (911 members)

What's Hi/Lo? Why it's a touring film festival of high-concept low-budget media for adventurous audiences nationwide. After screening at Rooftop Films in Brooklyn and Subterranean Cinema in Jacksonville, we had to bring this one to 911. Here's a partial list of what's showing:

Revolutions Per Minute - Alex Roper, Baltimore, MD
There are many ways to celebrate the 4th of July. Detonating a record player full of fireworks is just one of them.

Fast Forward 1 - Alec Joler, Lawrence, KS
A $250 million dollar action-adventure produced for the cost of a box of Legos.

Board Room - Fritz Donnelly, New York City
Donnelly returns to 911's screen with a serious film about market penetration, demographic analysis, and a high-power meeting... with himself,

I'm With Stupid - Ben McCormick, San Francisco
Various inanimate objects - a tortilla, an apple, a glass of orange juice - confront their fears and plan their future.

Making Love (Out of Nothing At All) - Michelle Dean, San Francisco
Animated hot dogs fly through the universe singing along to Air Supply.

Fast Forward #2 - Alec Joler, Lawrence, KS
Seagal, Schwarzenegger and the folks who did the White Stripes music video have nothing on this guy.

Hunter Dawson - Andrew Dickson, Portland, OR
Where do the knuckleheads on reality TV come from? Who aspires to share their life with the masses? To answer these burning questions we present you with Hunter Dawson's audition tape.

...and much much more!
