Stanislav Libensky and Jaroslava Brychtova are a husband and wife team who are considered cultural icons in the Czech Republic, major sculptors in Europe, and the foremost artists in the field by the glass art world. Long-time friends and mentors to Seattle area artists such as Dale Chihuly and Buster Simpson, these two great Czech artists helped to keep modern art alive in their own country over the last 45 years, while at the same time helping to bring the International Studio Glass Movement into the world of fine art. Terry Moyemont and Mary Van Houtte spent over two years working with the Libenskys, their frends and colleagues and museum curators to bring together this very personal portrait of two very public figures. The history politics and education are all accurate enough and the insights into the artistic process are exciting, but it is unfolding of the characters from an apprentice eye view that gives this work true force.
