In a time of major advances in digital media 911 Media Arts Center envisions a future where independent voices thrive in a society that fosters diversity, innovation and artistic excellence.

R is for Residency

Local animator Brian Markle recently finished an artist residency at 911 Media Arts Center which culminated in Move It #1, the first in a series of experimental animation screenings, held at Ghost Gallery on Capitol Hill. Collaborating with sound artist Jeff Aaron Bryant who provided an original soundtrack, Brian digitally animated 115,083 individual frames. For those of you that missed it (big mistake), we’ve uploaded the piece to our Vimeo account for your viewing pleasure. Disclaimer: After watching this footage, you will probably regret missing the event so much you won’t think twice about staying home for Move It #2, on May 7th. Cancel your date, skip washing your hair, tell your boss you need the night off, and we’ll see you there!
