911 Mourns the Loss of Ian Harrison
February 13th, 2009
It is with great sadness that 911 Seattle Media Arts Center mourns the passing of staff member Ian Harrison. The Board of Directors and Staff at the Center extend their heartfelt condolences to Ian’s parents, family, and friends. We have received condolences from our deep community of supporters, and we thank you for the outpouring of expression in this difficult time.
Ian was a beloved member of 911, creating many friends and making 911 a better place for staff, students, and visitors during his journey from intern to staff member and teacher.
As an Education Intern completing his senior year requirements for a BA in Media & Art at The Evergreen State College, Ian brought a smile and a sense of humor to the halls of 911 as he tackled our mundane day-to-day tasks. His hard work revealed his talents in video production, teaching, and an array of skills that garnered an offer to become a 911 staff member after he graduated in June of 2008.
We have set up a separate site to celebrate Ian’s life and to share your thoughts. Please visit the site here.
In lieu of flowers, Ian’s parents have asked that a donation be made to 911. You can make a general donation to 911 here, or to a special Ian Harrison Youth Scholarship Fund at Ian’s memorial site. An additional memorial site was also set up for Ian here.
