John Feodorov: Four Sacred Spaces

John Feodorov
Four Sacred Spaces
February 26 - April 2, 2005
Gallery hours: Tuesday thru Saturday, 3pm to 7pm
Opening Reception: Saturday., February 26th, 4pm to 7pm

During this past year, John Feodorov has been a participant in 911ıs Media Artist in Residence Program an opportunity that has allowed him to experiment and develop his skills with digital media. We are pleased to present the culmination of his hard work a mixed-media installation incorporating moving image media in our new media gallery space, starting January 29. Join us on Wednesday, February 23, for an artistıs talk and slide presentation of Johnıs larger body of work.

Four Sacred Spaces explores the notions of sacred place and time, and is an experiment at reconciling the spiritual void commonly expressed in contemporary Western society, with the mundane secular workplace. The installation utilizes office cubicles, organic materials, video projections and audio to create a meditative urban environment.

For the past 10 years, John Feodorov has worked primarily as an installation artist, musician, and teacher. In 2001, he was featured in the PBS television series Art for the 21st Century as well as in the companion book published by Abrams Press. His work has been exhibited throughout the country, most recently in Whiteness: a Wayward Construction at the Laguna Art Museum. John is represented by Howard House gallery in Seattle.

911ıs Media Artist in Residence Program is made possible through generous funding from the Allen Foundation for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
