911 Media's fourth annual !Mira! festival de Cine y Video Latino welcomes artist Carlos Duran, as guest curator for the 911 Windows Installation project. The Windows installation is a prelude to the festivals program and festivities which run from November 2 - 4, 2001. Carlos invites listed artists to present personal interpretation of ancient and modern Alters representing Day of the Dead traditions and culture throughout Latin America. Carlos Duran, born in Tobasco, Mexico, learned to paint under the guidance of his father Carlos A. Duran Sr., a fresco master. Carlos has a long history of curation and exhibition in the Northwest; he founded Seattle's first gallery of Latin American art in 1985. You will be able to see more of Carlos' efforts as part of the month-long celebration of Dia de los Muertos, at The Phinney Neighborhood Center, running concurrently with the 911 Windows Installation.
