Thursday February 21, 6-9pm
instructor - Kris Bousteadt member cost - $ 50 non member cost - $ 75
In this three-hour seminar we will examine and compare today's most common production formats: DV, HDV, DVCPro HD, ProRes 422 and Uncompressed HD. Each format will be broken down to its inherent artistic implications, technical requirements and financial necessities. By the end of the session "HD" in all its forms will be demystified. No longer shall it be shrouded in a veil of technicalities (chroma sub-sampling, anyone?). Not only will you be able to go forth and impress your friends at dinner parties, but you will also be able to talk the talk of HD production.
We can't give you a bag of money, which, as you'll learn, may be a prerequisite for working with HD. By the end of the seminar you will be armed with the knowledge necessary to get started. Some basic knowledge of production and post-production terminology is helpful, but not required. Class limit: 8
