In this class you will learn the foundations of traditional 2-d animation technique and practice. As a filmmaking tool, animation allows almost unlimited imaginative possibilities for storytelling, mood creation, and metaphor. Class participants will use the Lunchbox Animation System to explore gesture and movement, text manipulation, looping, and more. We'll also spend some time with flip books and the Zoetrope. Anyone can learn to use this expressive medium. Make sure to bring your imagination to class!

This class is open to all skill levels. No previous experience in drawing or film required. Class limit: 12

BRITTA JOHNSON has made numerous animated shorts, commercials for MTV and other networks, and music videos for artists including Andrew Bird, Minus the Bear, and Laura Veirs.
