Cinematography for DV

    T hrough hands on exercises, screenings and discussions you will learn how to create strong moving images. Starting with simple ideas we will build to more sophisticated techniques for using the lens, light composition, color, and effective camera or subject movement. We will screen excerpts from various film styles including silent film, documentary and the latest work shot on DV. We will look at both locally created work and commercial work to think about the exciting possibilities, and limitations of shooting on DV.

    Whether you are shooting your own independent films, documentaries or industrials, this is a chance to take your understanding of the possibilities of camera work to a higher level. Class limit: 12

    Roy Wilson
    Roy has had a prolific and varied career in TV & Film production. In New York he directed and produced with Paper Tiger TV and Deep Dish TV. Roy has also taught at well-known institutions such as NYU, Rutgers and the School of Visual Arts. A former staff member of 911 Media Art Center, Roy now divides his time between teaching and freelancing as a shooter, lighting designer and editor.
